Waifarer is a GPS-triggered audio tour app for road trips. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used.
Waifarer requests access to your device's location in order to trigger audio narration when you approach a waypoint during a tour. Location is used only while a tour is actively running and is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties.
The app requests "Always On" location permission so that waypoints can trigger with the screen off during a drive. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
When you generate a tour, your origin and destination are sent to our server to fetch a route and produce narration scripts. This information is used solely to generate your tour and is not linked to your identity.
On-demand narration ("Where am I?") sends your current coordinates to our server for reverse geocoding and script generation. These coordinates are not stored after the request completes.
Waifarer does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifying information.
Tour generation uses the following third-party APIs: Google Maps (routing), Anthropic Claude (script generation), and OpenAI (text-to-speech). Each service receives only the minimum data needed to fulfil the request. Refer to their respective privacy policies for details.
Generated tours (audio files and scripts) are stored on our servers so they can be downloaded to your device. You can delete any tour at any time from within the app, which removes it from our servers immediately.
Waifarer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
